    Travel Industry Web Services

    Hi,

Can anyone explain how the travel industry's web services work, in a general sense?

I'm trying to understand how, for example, travelsupermarket.com finds all of it's holiday information?
Is there a central area for the travel industry, or do they receive data from lots of individual travel providers?

As I understand it, the travel industry has quite an advanced set of protocols when it comes to web services.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks, Ian

No idea, but it's something I've wondered about myself. I'm a big fan of Kayak.com, and always wondered if they're using airline-approved web services, or just logging in and screen-scraping for their results.
