Assign two ip-address to one hostname

    Hi to all,

I need to assign to one hostname two different ip-address of two different nodes, so if one node is down, if i ping the hostname i can yet reach it because the other node answer to me

It's possible to configure this using the dns service? How?

    thank you

It is but not in a way that will help you with this problem. What you're considering is solved by load balancing: DNS has one IP address for the one name, but it resolves to the load balancer which then forwards traffic to whatever machine it wants (such as the first one available).

I would do it in registar nameservers config. one nameserver one IP. When one do not resolve, second is used. if first node is down, how you can redirect request from dead node. Only to use another third server which distribute requests?
