I don't know of any control panel that is specific to BIND. But there are system control panel's out there that support BIND. I like the webmin BIND interface.

If you were just looking to have an easier time editing your DNS information then you could host your domain with DollarDNS. It's free, and also has a BIND control panel of sorts.

"but i need something for my users to be able to update and edit they're domains"

izidns is the right front-end for your users.
If you have problems install it, please post them here.

ok, here is one problem that i had:

it seys in the README file for installing to:

cd ..
cp libmysqltcl2.50.so poweradmin-1.2.7/inc/

but the libmysqltcl2.50.so file isn't in the dir above that poweradmin one, and the README file doesn't say where i can get it from, so right there the install stopped for me.

any ideas?

thanks again!

libmysqltcl.so is no longer shipped with izidns anymore, due to
compatibility problems which might occur on several systems
now you're forced to install it by yourself.

You will need to install:
bind9 (nameserver) => http://www.isc.org/index.pl?/sw/bind/
mySQL (database) => http://www.mysql.com/
apache+php (webserver) => http://www.apache.org/ & http://www.php.net/
tcl8.3/8.4 (script interpreter) => http://www.tcl.tk/
** phpmyadmin (database control tool ) => http://sf.net/projects/phpmyadmin/
mysqltcl (tcl mysql module) => http://www.xdobry.de/mysqltcl/

libmysqltcl.so (libmysqltcl2.50.so) is a part of mysqltcl.

see the file poweradmin-1.2.7/docs/README.bind

What OS do you have?

can anyone recommend another program for this?

poweradmin has too many bugs to be worked out,
I just got an email back from the creator saying:

Its a bit of a 'bug' in PEAR:B the database abstraction layer that
PowerAdmin uses. Was not a very fortunate choice it seemed layer because it
can not handle id's on its own.

thanks again!

I use izidns with no problem. Did you install it and find that it's
not working as should work?
I try more then 10 software that should do the same, but I
had problems install them, some of them work only with
apache 1.3.x not with 2.x.
izidns was the only program that works for me with no problem
So, are you having problems with it?

By the way IZIDNS is not "poweradmin"

yes, it is poweradmin,
it says so right at the top of the read me file.

Quote:
Izidns is a patch for poweradmin ( www.poweradmin.org ) so it'll fully support
the bind nameserver (http://www.isc.org/sw/bind/).

the functions that are causing problems are part of the original poweradmin aswell.

and yes, it's not working as it should, i have fallowed the install directions twice now, both with the same results.

i'll try to find another program that does this, and i'll post back here once i know.

thanks again.
