browser like dns viewer
Hello,
I have been having a lot of problems with adding hosts to my domains, and having them work or maybe not work because I think the names are getting cached wrong, or have been, and now they are stuck there. Does anyone know a program that can act like a browser by connecting to a site but showing you exactly where and what information it's getting and giving? Where it's getting it's info, etc... I'm on windows, but if it's a console command thats fine. Thanks, Dan |

Try http://www.dnsreport.com. Better yet, tell us your real domain name so we can troubleshoot the problems for you, because I highly doubt that you understand the explanation from the report.

FreeBSD,
Thank you for your reply. Acutally, contrary to how my question sounds I use that site regularly to troubleshoot/help setup domains. I tried the cache viewer on there but it's only for a handful of popular servers, and it doesn't actually tell me where the records are cached. This is not a problem at the moment because my SOA mimimum already had the zones refreshed from my nameservers but I'm just curious for a solution in the future. What happened what I messed up my ip address in a a record for my hostname but then I was just curuious if there was a browser like IE that showed you the output of where it gets it's records that are causing problems. As it turns out I don't think i waited long enough for my TTL to expire on my a record. But thanks for the response, and oh btw the domain is dandland.com. Instead of asking how to debug your domain (and confusing me with what you're asking), just tell us what error(s) you are experiencing. After I know what you expect to happen, then I can tell ya what may be the problem.
