cannot find server or DNS error - help!

I am have a huge problem with my computer in that some sites that would previously open, won't. I ran spyware blaster and adaware, did disk clean up, cleaned out my temporary internet files and disk cache. One of the sites I'm trying to open is http://overture.com. I am connected to Internet via Comcast high speed broadband. I have plenty of space on my hard drive. I'm a computer novice, so please bear with me

Well, first let's make sure it's a DNS error. When the site isn't working, execute the following command in the DOS prompt. Then copy it and paste for me the result.

ping overture.com
