if i want to know the IP of one of the website how i trace it?
can i trace by using dos?

Type "tracert [domain.com]", press ENTER

(NOTE: don't actually type the quotes)

It will say:

but i try already not work?it work in win98 also right?

after that it say unable to resolve target system name?

ping thewebsitename.com

the first line of the ping results includes the ip of the site (Note you must be online to do this)

What if the address is attached to some other domain? like:

.geocities.com/animevision01/index.html

??? I tryed it and it didin't work.


it there a web site that can tell me what it is?

geocities.com points to an IP address that identifies a server. The /animevision01/ site is on the geocities.com server, but in the animevision01 folder. So to get the IP address of that site (which is simply the IP of the server it's hosted on), you'd ping geocities.com.

but that just gets you geocites IP(geocities.com computer) I am looking to find animevision IP(her computer IP see what I am saying?

Yea I see what you're saying, but you don't see what I'm saying. animevision's IP is geocities' IP b/c animevision's site is hosted on the same server as geocities, and IPs point to servers.
