Create Domain?
Hi:
I currently have apache/php/mysql running on my computer. I've been doing some reading on DNS servers. I was wondering, is it possible to create a domain name, just for a test to see if it works, without registering it through a registrar? I know there's DNS services out there like: http://www.dyndsn.org where you can signup one for free. But I'm just wondering, is there a way you can create like a test domain name, like: yourdomain.com If it's available that is, and it will work with my apache server? Is that possible, or isn't it? Thanks for your help!! Ken Cooper

I recommend that you test using the hosts file. This way you can make any domain you want (even one that exists!) point to your computer so that you can properly test your website. If you want further details on how to configure your hosts file, tell us what operating system you have, and somebody will help you.
