DirectNIC nameservers
Hello, I've used DirectNIC to register my domain a week ago, and a few days ago I changed the nameservers to the ones specified by my new host. The problem is, DirectNIC has this hosting options page, but there isn't an option that directly says "let it be hosted by given nameservers". So I chose the "no hosting" option. My domain status right now, as shown by DirectNIC is :
Domain status: active (no hosting) But my domain isn't working...and its been a few days since the nameserver change so I think the propagation should be over. It could be that I haven't given it enough time, but it also could be a mistake somewhere on my part. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any replies. Some places actually charge to update or replace the nameservers be careful. Essentially what they need to do is update your info into the rootservers. That does take some time. It should never take longer than a week. I would get on the phone with them or email and explain your issue.

I've been using directnic for years, they do not charge for anything extra!
What you need to do is: 1. Change hosting type to - active (no hosting), this means NOT HOSTED BY DIRECTNIC. 2. Go back to the account summary, and click on the small icon that looks like a computer. The tooltip says - Change Nameserver information... 3. Now enter in the nameserver information to the nameserver that you need. The default will still be pointing to Directnic's server. If you've done this, verify that the current name servers associated with your domain name are correct. You can also do a whois lookup on your domain name, and check the nameserver records... if they are correct, and you do not see the page, then you can ping from your computer, make sure you're getting the correct IP address. 1. If the nameservers are correct, and your ping gives you the correct ip address, then it's probably something in your webserver configuration. 2. If the nameservers are correct, and your ping is not, then your ISP has not received the updates yet. 3. If the nameservers are incorrect, refer to the instructions about directnic above. Good luck. |
