DNS and system load
I have set up BIND 8 on my FreeBSD server and when I look at system load named is using 96% of my CPU usage. Is this normal? If not how do I fix this problem? I am worried that this will cause my usage to above the amount alloted and I will get a very large bill. I looked at my MRTG and since I have started named it has been a constant 58kbs in and out. Please help.
Thank you, Mark |

Did you make sure the installed version is up to date? Bind is natoriously buggy and needs to be kept up to date. Some scripts crackers may use can often cause this
Did you run the init.d file to restart the deamon yet? All the bind processes I have ran have used somewhere around 1% max. Did you check the logs for any strange errors yet? If there are any could you please post them? |
