Lets start with the main DNS server running on 192.168.0.3.
inital configaration askes for forwarders:

Do i leave them off if not what IPs should i use?

I would also like to asign a different IP for each site where do i start?

Mail server:

in order for it to be independent of the web servers dns I have set it up as a second primery dns dealing only with the mail servers records unfortunatly it fails after a while if i set it up as a secondary it fails straight away. how do i solve this problem.
again on initial setup the dns askes for forwarders should i leave them blank if not what dns ips should I use.

there are 3 other machines on the network used for private use:

192.168.0.5 (Admin)
192.168.0.6 (radio link)

Well if I was you, I would take the EASY WAY OUT....

I'm running just a HTTP Server, I used to run a DNS Server also until I changed Interner Provider and found they block port 53, so I could no longer run a DNS Server.
Well then a GREAT GUY come along and helped me out, well come to find out he offers a FREE DNS Service!!!

You will see his name helping out just about everyone in this DNS thread........
"SilentRage"

In his sig. you will see this:
I also provide a few internet services like free dns hosting, which has so many features, many would say it's better than running your own dns server. It's all found at DollarDNS.NET

Now after using his service, THAT IS SO TRUE, IT IS BETTER THEN RUNNING YOUR OWN DNS SERVER!!!!!!!

I was forced to use his service but now I have, even though I could run a dns server, NOT GUNNA DO IT!!!!

His service is so much better then I could ever setup!!!

Again, if I was you I would take the easy way out and go over to dollardns.net and sign up for the dns service and it will let you do every thing your looking to do....
But make sure to forward the http ports to your PC thats serving......

If you have any questions, I'm sure he will help you out!!!
He really is a cool guy, and again the service is free, but I made a donation to the cause......... CAUSE HE IS A COOL MOFO, and really helps people out!!!!!

But go sign up for his service, you'll be like me. The heck with running the dns server, and all the headaches!!!!!! LOL

Good ole jakejammin...

g7dme: To answer your questions...

Considering forwarders, this is completely optional. Use them or don't use them, but if you do use them then you will need to punch in your ISP's dns servers. Forwarding is for the purpose of resolving other people's domains. This has no effect on hosting domains.

"I have set it up as a second primery dns"

This is extremely non-standard. Why are you doing things this way? If you're just wanting one dns server as a public dns server with public IPs, and another dns server as a private dns server with private IPs, then THAT makes sense perfectly.

"what dns addresses should i use on these machines."

You should probably use your 192.168.0.3 IP as the primary dns server IF it has private IP address information, and one or more of your ISP's dns servers as secondaries.
