DNS Fails to work

Hey guys,

I would really appreciate it if someone would take a moment to look over my configuration and let me know if you see any mistakes? For some reason, the nameservers fail to respond entirely.

I am using WHM/cPanel with BIND. I've got one main domain (p1ws.com) that has a number of subdomains- and that is it for now. I'd like to use ns3.p1ws.com and ns4.p1ws.com as the nameservers. The domain was purchased at godaddy, so I'm using their UI to specify the nameservers and add the "glue" records for those nameservers. I'm going to go ahead and include everything I think might be of some assistance.

(Unfortunately cant post links directly, replace the two first x's with t's to access them)

Host summary screen for ns4 : hxxp://i.imgur.com/MkwnQFx.png
WHM Basic Configuration Screen : hxxp://i.imgur.com/G5VlffS.png
Main domain DNS zone in WHM: hxxp://i.imgur.com/Gz3iBxn.png

When I click save on the DNS Zone edit page in WHM, I get this error :
Quote:
zone p1ws.com/IN: has no NS records zone p1ws.com/IN: not loaded due to errors. Bind reloading on ns4001027 using rndc zone:
[p1ws.com] Bind reloading on ns4001027 using rndc: WARNING: key file (/etc/rndc.key) exists, but using default configuration file (/etc/rndc.conf) server reload successful

As of right now- nothing to do with that domain is working, so I know the nameservers are incorrectly setup, but I can't figure out what I've done wrong and how to fix it.

Any insight appreciated.

Thanks for the time guys.

Domain "p1ws.com" does not resolve. Therefore, DNS servers ns3.p1ws.com/ns4.p1ws.com cannot be found. Are these servers registered as domain servers?

Yup- sure are. The "glue" records are set at godaddy and the WHM setup is configured as listed above, with the only difference being this one update I made to the DNS zone edits : hxxp://i.imgur.com/nrbwGwW.png

Is there anything else required to "register" them?

Thanks for your time reading and responding!

This is all fixed! Thanks for looking and helping guess.

For those of you that end up here with a similar problem- CSF (my firewall) was blocking port 953. I thought DNS was just 53, but it needs both 953 and 53.

Cheers!
