I own a domain, hotwaxresidues.com, host it myself, and I'm having an issue with my named server.
If I run an nslookup hotwaxresidues.com I get a dns request timeout unless i add my ip address to the end of the nslookup command: nslookup hotwaxresidues.com 209.159.222.32 This was working a few weeks ago, which is why I was sure I had my zones setup correctly for named, but I have no idea why all of a sudden no dns server has an entry for my domain anymore. If anyone can give me some insight to this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Matt |

You have 2 name servers set for your domain at your registrar:
dig @a.gtld-servers.net hotwaxresidues.com ns1.hotwaxresidues.com (206.107.159.25) ns3.rapidlan.com (64.251.172.42) Requests to both of those servers time out. The server IP you gave me in your post does work, but it's not being used.

I understand that is where the problem comes into play. If you do a dig on hotwaxresidues.com using 209.159.222.32 it shows my zone as saying ns1.hotwaxresidues.com is associated with 209.159.222.32 and not 206.107.159.25. no where in any of my bind settings do i have that 206.. address anymore. Any idea why all other dns servers can't obtain the new one? |

You need to change the information at the place you registered the domain.

Thanks for the info. I now see a spot to change the ips for the name server addresses I have entered. Thanks again Silent Rage! ![]() |
