DNS Server Behind A Firewall
Hey there,
I am trying to run a DNS server on a Windows 2000 Server. Using internal networks this works fine and i can use it to browse the Net. But when i go external and use my IP as my DNS then it does not work!!!!!! Which is annoying. My server is running WinRoute as a Firewall and as NAT table. I have configured my port maps to let Port 53 in which i was told was the right port for a Microsoft DNS Server, but still it does not work! I really need someone to tell me what is going wrong. I was using a free ISP at the time and i set my DNS to my IP. If anyone could help then that would be great! Cheers ChicaneWeaver ![]() |

Does your dns server know to listen on more than one network interface?
And you may have to allow both TCP and UDP traffic on port 53 |
