DNS server issues

ok let me start by sayin this site is such a big help in alot of things and i am so glad its here. (were is the donation button) well my problems is that i am new to hosting my own domains and i cant seem to understand how to setup up a dns server on win2k server running apache. i was to host www.interactive-data.net i already pointed the servers to a name server with my ip address. but now what do i do. i created a folder in apache labeled interactive-data.net in the websites folder. i no i need to create zones but i cant find a tuturiol on how to do that. and virtual names hosting also needs to be configured. i have spent hours trying to understand all this but i cant. any help would be greatly appriciated. also i plan on writing a total guide for dummies on hosting you own doamin when i understand it.

This is pretty simple.. You said your domain is already using your server as its name server..

1. Ensure the DNS server that ships with 2k is installed on your 2k server..
2. open Administrative Tools-DNS, and right click on the forward lookup zones folder, and then choose create zone.
3. Follow Choose primary lookup zone and enter your domain name with out any sub domain E.G. yourdomain.com not www.yourdomain.com
4. Once you completed the creation of your zone, select the new zone and then right click within the right hand window. choose create New host record enter your servers Ip and enter a host name E.G. www

This will allow www.yourdomain.com to resolve to your server.. There are other records that should be created such as an MX record. I am sure you can figure this out..
