DNS time travels to the past
As I'm getting ready to hightail it from Interland to a dedicated server, I decided to start having my mail head over to the new server.
I added an MX record for the new server and set it at a priority of 10 compared to the current mail server's 20. With a TTL of 30 minutes it just took a coffee and watching Canada get a gold before the email started flowing towards the new server. I checked the domain on dnsreport.com and it said that the SOA serial number matched the date of the latest change and that the two nameservers were currently out of sync. Several hours later, mail is now flowing back to the old server. A dnsreport shows the SOA serial number as reflecting the old date back in 2001. Going to Interland's DNS manager shows the new info...so why has the world gone back in time when they welcomed the new info hours ago? Thanks. |

What's the domain and what's the IP of your dedicated server and I'll show you what's wrong.
