DNS with BIND using Webmin

Hi,

I'm usign WEbmin and installed BIND.

I registered 2 name servers at my registar ie: ns1.example.com.ar and ns2.example.com.ar

I've also created nameservers entries in one of my domains.. ns1.example.com.ar and ns2.example.com.ar pointing to my public IPs,..

Now, I can't ping ns1.example.com.ar neither ns2.example.com.ar at all
. Is that because my port needs to be opened in my VPS? I've read BIND uses port 53?

anyway, sounds like ns1 and ns2 doesn't resolves at all to the IPs so I think the issue is another.

Thanks.

Yes, port 53 would need to be opened in the firewall (or forwarded on a router).

If you can post the zone file, I can try assisting...

Hello,

Please check for DNS records setup at your domain name registrar end are correctly setup or no. For private DNS setup you must enter the ns1.example.com.ar and ns2.example.com.ar as child DNS or a private DNS of a domain name with accurate IP address which are setup as Nameserver Ip's for NS of your domain name.
