no, you register "mydomain.com" and then you can configure hosts like "www.mydomain.com" with it.

U dont
Your registar, the person you registered the domain with will ask you the nameservers where the DNS records are hosted... then after 2-3 days everyone should be able to get your site... You dont notify root servers.

No having a nameserver doesnt mean you can start giving out domains or getting them for free.
perhaps you should read this... http://www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html To register domains with root servers you need to be an ICANN-Accredited Registrar. or register them through one. If im wrong SilentRage can explain it, he knows more about DNS than myself Edit: I also found this for you, if this is something u can afford, your my new best friend http://forums.devshed.com/archive/36/2003/8/3/77594 Last edited by trininox : January 29th, 2004 at 07:27 PM. |

I tend to let the first person who replies to a topic handle that person's problems (unless he's doing a bad job of it). But here's the official financial requirements:

Proof of 70k haha thats quite a bit over the thought 10k.
Perhaps some kind of affiliate progam with one of the registars would be a better solution, you could still get something when people you refer register a domain but no cost on your behalf. Hope its clear now, I thought about it myself until I learned exactly how it all works. |
