    Talking Domain setup

I just got a domain name that I want to use with free hosting I have. Is there any way to do this? I tried pointing the domain name to the nameservers given on my hosting. Didn't work. I'm thinking there's something I don't understand about domain names

It can take up to 72 hours for the DNS of your domain name to propagate thru the interwebs.

Hmm now I'm getting a 404? All I have to do is point the DNS's to the correct nameservers correct?

you also need to have an A record setup for your domain that points to the IP of whatever your hosting co. has assigned for you.

um, yes, the first "A" record would be for the domain, so, it would be for the @'s A record.

if you want to also use "www.domain.tld" along with your @'s "domain.tld", you will have to setup an A record for the "www" subdomain, also, pointing to the IP given by your hosting co.

Is your website live or are you encountering problems still?

Still having problems with it. Put it down for a while to deal with some more pressing stuff but I still want to get it done, I mean I own the domain for now so what the heck.

Anyways I tried pointing the @ record to what I think is the IP address of my site. I tried going to the IP address of my site as well and got something like a 404? Shouldn't it resolve correctly if I use the IP address?

Anyways let me know if you have any ideas.

    Thanks.

Oh I think I figured it out! Just had to "create an account" with 000webhost that pointed to the domain name and update the domain nameservers. It APPEARS to be working.
