    Email and DNS

Is there a way to forward email targeting whatever@example.com (insert real domain here) to my gmail? Can it be done in the DNS record? Or do I have to pay someone?

I *do* have mail for one of my domains pointed at my gmail account, but it's through Google Apps, and if I want to add a domain that way, I'll have to pay them - I got the one domain account for free when they were Beta.

You'd have to literally forward the emails, using whatever forwarding mechanism your example.com mail server supports. If you can find a free service you can trust that supports doing that for you then you could switch your DNS to use them.

On the other side is setting up your Gmail to read your example.com email via IMAP. That's free and pretty easy.
