I agree with you mostly. I'm not very impressed with my linksys router. I've found a bug in the filtering feature where the router drops packets that shouldn't be dropped. I think I have a pretty good idea why the bug exists, and it is a very lazy thing on the developer's part. Also I despise the limited capabilities the web interface provides. I've had loads more fun playing around with REAL routers with telnet ports.
I don't think the security is weak however, at least not from the standpoint of allowing traffic in. It's just limited.
