getting reverse dns
Hi
This is a newbie question. Im running a small linux server at the moment on my adsl. When someone say connects to irc via my server the displayed address is my adsl address. Ive asked my isp if they provide extra ip address's or would change my reverse dns, but they dont. Is there any other way to go about having access to a different reverse dns, or would i just have to change isp to one which supports this? thanks |

Reverse DNS (or PTR) records are configured by the people responsible for a particular block of IP addresses - in this case, your ISP. So yes, the only option is to move to an ISP that will allow you to set your own PTR records.
