Help
I have a Novell Network in place and would like to know the following:
Is it possible for an MX record in the DNS server to resolve a URL? Thanks very much, J |

no. The only thing that "resolves URL's" are 'A' records. The very way you worded the question suggests you don't know a lot of other things about URL's and MX records. Feel free to ask more questions.

Help
You're right, I am not all that knowledgeable. Hence, the reason for the question. Below is an excerpt from a note from one of my Architects.
If the machine belongs to Novell Network, Windows 2000 Domain does not fully trust your machine - which belongs to this "foreign" Novell Network. Consequently, advanced interactive ABM functions like OLAP or Reports can result in this specific "Server URL is undefined" error. The Novell file systems are already part of the enterprise domain, as are all Win2K application servers. We don't host URL's on Novell. The app servers are IP enabled as are the workstations and can map via IP, and appropriate access can be granted on different platforms in a domain. Does this help? |

This isn't a DNS related issue. This is an issue of network domains and servers. Ask in the "Networking" (preferred) or "Windows" forum.
