How do you set up subdomains on server other than Apache?

I've got a Tbird 900 running Omnicron OmniHTTPD 2.09 on Windows ME. I use windows because this is my personal computer that I use for scripting and surfing the internet. Apache needs its own prompt that won't minimize to system tray, so it's kind of annoying. I'd like to know, how do you set up subdomains? Is it your server, or you host that takes those settings?

Your host needs to setup each subdomain.yourdomain.com to be DNS resolvable, perhaps the same IP as www.yourdomain.com by adding an A record to the zone record for your domain. If you don't run your own authoritative DNS server, ask your host to set it up for you.
