We are using Windows DNS server. There are 400 zone files in system32/dns.
We have to change the IP's of all the zone files. Is there any tool or any command to change the IP of all the DNS zone files at one go. Thanks. |

heh, well there's 2 ways you can go about it. You can either setup a script to modify all the files and reload all the zone files into the server automatically.
OR... You can setup a script that'll use Dynamic Update to query the dns server to change all the IPs and no reload is necessary. -- In either case, either you can make the script, or you can pay somebody else to make the script. I have experience with both techniques (my main skill is programming). Course maybe you could use Active Directory as well. Active Directory uses Dynamic Update to modify zones. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with its capabilities so whether or not it is the fastest choice I don't know.

you misread his post. He knows about that directory, and he knows he can use notepad to edit them. But the fact is he's got 400 zones in there and doesn't want to open each one in notepad.
