Usually you can't.

Sometimes they allow you to use nslookup and the "ls" command. But this is very very rare.

I'll state what you can do.

First of all what Hirsch is talking about is zone transfers. Using ls in nslookup initiates a zone transfer. Zone transfers are commonly refused by DNS configurations however it is not "very very rare". I would simply call it rare. I myself have found many many zones that allowed transfers most of them being small businesses and colleges. Some transfers results in thousands and thousands of records. It's pretty incredible.

But anyway, a zone transfer WILL get you all the hosts (minus delegated hosts) under a given domain. For instance "secure.net".

Here's another zone transfer where you get MOST of the hosts hosted on a single IP:

http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dn...=AXFR&submit=DS

However that is not all. Many other domains point to that IP as well. As Hirsch says, it's fairly impossible to do what you ask.
