I read this 50 times about... LDAP
The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol provides access to X.500 directory
services. The services may be stand-alone part of a distributed directory service. This API supports LDAP over TCP, LDAP over SSL, and LDAP over IPC (UNIX domain sockets). what is LDAP for ? I understand everyword, but I do know what is does , benefit, application..etc can u tell me ?

Off-topic.
>> what is LDAP for In simple term, it's a centralize database to store data where it can be reached from anywhere from anyone or with access restriction to the info. >> but I do know what is does , benefit, application Most TCP applications are not LDAP-aware, but LDAP can be added to extend the capabilities. As I said, centralize database, you can keep all .htaccess password, ftp logins, qmail account info, address book and all kind of stuffs to LDAP. |
