I believe somebody already asked about this for that registrar. One of these days I'll practically be a support desk for every registrar out there. heh. But anyway, in your account manager or whatever there should be a small link near the bottom that says something like "if you want to use a name server based on your own domain click here". From there you can specify the domains and IP's of the name server domains you'd like to register.

with Godaddy.com you MUST update your domain host summary. after you added ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com give it 10 mins and update your name servers to those domains.
also, you have to go one digit off on the name servers. so for example. 64.75.123.0 64.75.123.1 I just did this and I pray it works lol |

Both of those IP's better work or half of the people around the world won't be able to reach your site.

You have 3 choices:
1) Choose another registrar which supports identical IPs 2) Don't host it yourself 3) Host the primary server and configure a slave with someone else |

Well I do.
But I don't recommend changing registrars since transferring a domain from one service to another is just wasting money in my opinion. I recommend setting up a slave on somebody elses server and hosting the primary on your server. If you don't know how I'll be glad to set one up for you in the account you created at DollarDNS. It doesn't cost you anything. |

Don't need to email. More convenient to help everybody in one spot, so devshed is best.
So assuming you're going to do the slave idea... Terminology: MASTER_IP = Your public IP as shown here: www.whatismyip.com SLAVE_IP = 68.51.39.58 (which ns1.dollardns.org currently points to) *** Domain Hosting: 1) Create a master zone on your home computer with BIND for the domain you registered 2) Create a slave zone on the DollarDNS zone manager where "Zone" is the domain you registered and "masters" is MASTER_IP (NOTE: You tried to do this before and got an error when trying to view the zone. Ignore this error, it probably just means you haven't setup your master zone yet) *** Domain Registration: Register the following name servers with GoDaddy: ns1.yourdomain.com with MASTER_IP ns2.yourdomain.com with SLAVE_IP Then set the following name servers for your domain: ns1.yourdomain.com ns2.yourdomain.com |
