local dns
does anybody know how to edit your local dns?
because i have a domain linked to my internet ip and routed that to my webserver but every subdomain goes to the same dir. Only wenn i do sub.server1. it goes somewhere else. But wenn i doe sub.mcsteve.nl it is the same as mcsteve.nl i think its because i don't have the right settings with sub.server1 does anybody know what i have to do or how i can fix this so that i can get sub.mcsteve.nl to go to sommething diferent then mcsteve.nl thanks allready greetz Steve |

This does not really seem to be a DNS question since regardless you are going to be going to the same Ip that already gets resolved, right?
I guess you are running Apache. If so then you need to go into httpd.conf and add a virtual server to the section. If you follow the examples in the file then you will be able to figure out how to do it. If you are using IIS thne open up IIS manager and add a web site. You need to make sure your headers are set up to the correct site. hth Bruce |

I agree, after interpreting your words into something sensible I think you are wanting a webserver solution, not a dns server solution.

If you run Apache, turn off UseCanonicalName.
