>> how to get the domain http://www.altontowersworld.co.uk

http://www.altontowersworld.co.uk is a Web site, not a domain.

>> to point to my server

Define to point to. And to your server? What server? What is a server in your definition?

>> if i sound completely dumb

Not dumb, you just have to explain your situation a little better.

Ok sorry! Basically i have a new dedicated server running
Red hat linux 8.0
Webmin
BIND version 9.2.1
Apache, PERL 5, PHP 4, MySQL, Webalizer, phpMyAdmin, SSH, DNS, POP3, SMTP, and Webmail
I am basically learning things as i go here! i need to do the following three things!

1) tell your domain register where your nameserver is,
2) configure nameserver to resolve that domain (using named/bind)
3) configure webserver to display page for that domain. (apache)

I don't even know what my nameservers are and what i need to do to set the server up to accept URL etc. if you can tell me how to do that or point me to a guide to get me started it would help! oh the good old days when life was simple

>> I don't even know what my nameservers are

Your domain is currently hosted at a DNS-clueless host at uk2net.com. Your nameservers are: ultra19.uk2net.net and ultra20.uk2net.net.
Why are they clueless in DNS? Because they have misconfigured their own domain (uk2net.net) all over the places.

The very first requirement is that, your IP (63.246.129.120) must be STATIC. Next, you need to be able to find someone to do secondary nameserver for you beforehand. If you can't do both, just give it up and do not attempt to run DNS to host your own domain.
