NS1/NS2 works but NS3/NS4 doesn't :(
Hi,
a while ago I set up an own server using ns1.hostinginsiders.biz and ns2.hostinginsiders.biz as the nameservers. I registered the domain hostinginsiders.biz on DomainRightNow (similar to Godaddy) and added my nameservers under domain host summary. Then after waiting for 48 hours I set up my nameservers on Cpanel and reloaded Bind and it worked without problems. Now I did order a second server and wanted to use ns3.hostinginsiders.biz and ns4.hostinginsiders.biz as the nameservers. I added the entries to my domain on Domainrightnow under "Domain Host Summary". It looks like this now: NS4.HOSTINGINSIDERS.BIZ 66.197.170.198 NS2.HOSTINGINSIDERS.BIZ 66.197.155.6 NS3.HOSTINGINSIDERS.BIZ 66.197.170.197 NS1.HOSTINGINSIDERS.BIZ 66.197.155.5 I waited for more than 48 hours and set up the nameservers on the new server and reloaded bind... doesn't work What am I doing wrong ?Works: URL Doesn't work: URL |

According to whois, only ns1 and ns2 are authoritative for your domains. You'll have to wait until they update their database for ns3 and ns4.

Hm...my the domain itself is using ns1.hostinginsiders.biz and ns2.hostinginsiders.biz as its nameservers and I do not want to add ns3/4 there. I do not want to use ns3 and ns4 as additional nameserver for hostinginsiders.biz domain...I want to host other domains on the new server and use ns3/ns4.hostinginsiders.biz as the DNS servers. |

Well you're still going to have to register the name servers for ns3 and ns4, but maybe you knew that. I just don't know *how* ns3 and ns4 doesn't work. the DNS Crawler links you provided return the same results. non-authoritative.

I did already register ns3/ns4 using the domain host summary feature on DomainRightNow. That was like 5 days ago. But it doesn`t work

I got it working now. The problem was that on the first server where the domain is hosted I didn't have an A entry for ns3 and ns4. It seems to be like you need an A entry on both servers to get it working the way I wanted. Thanks for your help anyway
