Other can see my website,But i cannot+Apache
Hi all,
I am new to apache,I have installed apache 2.0 in windows 2000 professional.I registered my domain with netsol,Since i am using ISP,I used Dynamic DNS from dyndns.org and a client software to update my IP address. Problem 1: Domain is accessible from outside of my local network. But if i try to access my domain from my machine. It gives error. Problem 2: When users are accessing my domain,The page is displayed but the URL changes to domainname.dyndns.org instead of showing www.domainname.com.Can't understand how to solve this issues. expecting your kind replies. |

So you registered a domain? In that case get rid of dyndns.org. I think they just offer subdomains, they don't offer dynamic services for a domain that you bought. Here's a list of domain host services. Every service listed that supports "dynamic zones" offers a client to keep your domain up-to-date with your current IP.
http://www.dollardns.net/compare.html As for your local problem, that is because you can't connect to your public IP address. So add a line to your hosts file to override that domain with your local IP.

Thanks for your advice regarding the domain registration,Infact now i have more questions to ask and i need some more help,
I have installed win2000 Prof, and iam accessing internet through my broadband modem. As we discussed earlier,I have registered the domain, I am using dyndns.org for dynamic DNS service, and iam using webforwarding so the URL is always domainanme.dyndns.org which i dont want.I would like my domain name to be displayed in the URL My Ip address changes dynamically,Is there any other service available to keep my domain up-to-date with my current IP.I would like to know the steps to be followed. Thanks for your replies. |

oh definately. You need to get rid of dyndns.org AND you need to get rid of web forwarding. All that just slows down accessing your website with unnecessary traffic.
I've already given you a list of services that provide dynamic services for YOUR domain, and not a silly subdomain. However, since you seem to be confused, I'll describe what you would have to do to use DollarDNS as your dynamic service. The process would be different with similarities no matter who you choose in my list. Create account on DollarDNS Zone Manager. Create dynamic zone for your domain Download windows ipupdate client Download your personal ipupdate config Get the client running to keep your IP up-to-date Change your domain's name servers to "free1.dollardns.net" and "free2.dollardns.net" I keep a close eye on my website logs. If I see that you're doing something wrong, I'll be contacting you. |
