Resolution Issues

I have been having problems swithing over to a new 3 Mbs pipeline just installed.

The main issue here is dns hostname resolution. I am unable to ping any outside interenet hostname from any client pc within my network. However, I am able to resolve by IP. I am also able to resolve by both IP and hostname from the router which is a Cisco 2811. This says that my outside connect ot Logix is good and I am getting DNS responses from their servers. I have already removed all policy maps off of my cisco equipment to open it up and make sure that that wasn't causing any problems. Still unable to ping hostnames from the client pc's.

Also, I am able to ping server names and other hostnames from within the LAN. All my forwarders have been setup on both DNS servers and doublechecked. What could I be missing here.

Ability to resolve host names hasn't got much to do with the ability to ping hosts. You are gong to have to be a bit more elaborate in your description of the problem. For instance, can you resolve grc.com using nslookup or dig? Can you browse to grc.com?

Ok, did you even read my post? I'm sorry I'm not trying to be rude. Performing an nslookup won't do any good when it is trying to query off of my DNS server. I can resolve off of my cisco 2811. Which tell me there is a problem specific to my part of my internal DNS configuration.

I have limited testing windows. I have another scheduled down time tomorrow, so I will run a few more tests and try some changes and perform your recommendations and let you know what the results are.
