Root.server

Hi, trying to set up Bind on a VPS running windows server 8 edition

1st problem is that I can't get Bind to run if I add a zone for root.server in named.conf. If I remove this zone Bind starts. I've tried removing all comments from root.server and then the whole file but still no good. It was running 2 days ago but no sure why it is not now.

Do I really need this file? If so any ideas on what is wrong?

.... root .server below that, I took out all comments
