SilentRage, Please take a look

Hello All,

I have setup my dns system on my win2k server. I have my domain correctly setup, I decided to just try and use win2k dns server. Everything seems to have been propagated throught the internet.

I used your webcrawler and for some reason my zone returns my local ips rather than external ip.
Webcrawler

Should I bag the DNS server built into win2k and go with Bind 9?

Please Advise

Thanks
Ronnie

EDIT:

the dns server is called fs1.bonnevillesalt.com I have my firebox forwarding port 53 to fs1.bonnevillesalt.com and port 80 to my webserver.bonnevillesalt.com

I am guessing that the microcrap dns decided to set my a record to my freaking local Ip
I have only 1 static ip

I had a hard enough time trying to figure out just what to do with Win2ks DNS server and then i still wasnt sure if it was right. I would just recommend using BIND. That way SilentRage can help you and its much easier to understand exactly how its setup.

yeah, you don't have to switch to BIND, but at least I'll be able to give you instructions on how to fix things. However, to give you nominal help for MS dns server, find where the dns config files are, and edit all local IP's to be your public IP. Then restart the server or whatever and see if that works.
