unreachable domains
I currently have servers that are hosting a few domains, but i have had a problem since the start with various countries not being able to access sites at times.
the web site is www.kaerloche.com and am using the nameserver ns1.internetpostoffice.net and ns2.internetpostoffice.net both were registered with enom and it's been over a month now, and for some reason sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. The servers are in a data center and have not gone down ever since set up, and the problem seems to be regional, seem like america has no problem, but placed in europe seem to be having issues such as Holland today and England. If anyone can shed any light on the issue i would be very greatfull, feel free to ask for any info ![]() |

Telling me your real domain was all the info I needed. I wish more people would give out their real domain from the first. HINT HINT PEOPLE!!!
Domain Registry: Name Servers for "kaerloche.com" ns1.internetpostoffice.net (69.93.97.250) ns2.internetpostoffice.net (69.93.97.250) Domain Registry: Name Servers for "internetpostoffice.net" ns1.internetpostoffice.net (69.93.97.250) ns2.internetpostoffice.net (69.93.97.250) Zone Data: Name Servers for "internetpostoffice.net" ns.internetpostoffice.net (69.93.97.250) ALSO ns1.internetpostoffice.net does not resolve ns2.internetpostoffice.net does not resolve This zone needs to be corrected with NS records that match the domain registry and their 'A' records. Zone Data: Name Servers for "kaerloche.com" ns.kaerloche.com (69.93.97.250) ns1.kaerloche.com (does not resolve) ns2.kaerloche.com (does not resolve) The zone needs to be corrected with NS records that match the domain registry and their 'A' records. Fix all these misconfigurations and your problems will be solved.

Thanks for the reply,
i think the problem about the real domain is most other forums don't allow you to post your real domain in your post so could be why they don't. anyway, so where does that information need to be changed? on my server? at a domain name host? would physically creating the subdomains ns1.internetpostoffice.net on my server fix the problem? I told you all ready that the zone data needs to be corrected to match the registry. I'll tell you again that the registry doesn't need to be changed. I'll tell you again that it's the zone data that needs to be changed.
So where's the zone? So what else is there besides the domain registry? Your server! Matter of fact, it's the server at IP address 69.93.97.250 that has the zone data on it! I'll tell you again that it is the NS records and their associated A records that needs to be changed in the zone files on your dns server at IP address 69.93.97.250. Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Maybe I'm just super hard to understand. So here, I'll try again: "so where does that information need to be changed?" Your DNS server at IP address 69.93.97.250 "on my server?" Yes "at a webhost?" Only if your webhost is your DNS server too. "would physically creating the subdomains ns1.internetpostoffice.net on my server fix the problem?" I told you what needs to be fixed. NS and A records buddy. NS and A records. If you're really that confused. I'll hand format and give you the files with the proper corrections. That is, if you're hosting your own DNS server and it is BIND. Last edited by SilentRage : January 12th, 2004 at 07:57 AM. |

thanks again for your reply,
i have added the 'A' records for ns1.internetpostoffice and ns2. does this mean that for EVERY domain i have hosted i have to place the IP of the ns1 and n2 in the A record for them? |

internetpostoffice.net. NS ns. internetpostoffice.net
ns.internetpostoffice.net A 69. 93. 97. 250 internetpostoffice.net A 69. 93. 97. 250 webmail.internetpostoffice.net A 69. 93. 97. 250 mail.internetpostoffice.net A 69. 93. 97. 250 ns1.internetpostoffice.net A 69. 93. 97. 250 ns2.internetpostoffice.net A 69. 93. 97. 250 ftp.internetpostoffice.net CNAME internetpostoffice.net www.internetpostoffice.net CNAME internetpostoffice.net internetpostoffice.net MX 10 mail.internetpostoffice.net 69.93.97.250/24 PTR internetpostoffice.net Those are the records that internetpostoffice.net now has, from the info that you gave me i am hoping i have done it correct by adding the n1 and ns2 information. |

I told you to fix the NS records too to match the domain registry. Do you have no clue what I'm talking about? I spelled it out in my first post.
These are the records you must have in that zone you just showed me. internetpostoffice.net. NS ns1.internetpostoffice.net. internetpostoffice.net. NS ns2.internetpostoffice.net. ns1.internetpostoffice.net. A 69.93.97.250 ns2.internetpostoffice.net. A 69.93.97.250 These are the records you must have in the other zones that uses internetpostoffice name servers in the name registry. internetpostoffice.net. NS ns1.internetpostoffice.net. internetpostoffice.net. NS ns2.internetpostoffice.net. (no A records here). |
