Utter newbie with DNS
Hi guys,
I am meekly asking for help. Yep, it's a stupid newbie question but hey, we all start somewhere. Thanks if you've read this far. Problem is that I can't seem to link my URL to my hosted files. Background info: - I have developed a website for a friend. The website works, has index.html etc - He bought thesoulsavers.com from URL - He bought 100Mb of hosting space from URL - I uploaded the website files to the FTP details I was sent by the hosting company - I then changed the Nameserver settings (about a week ago) of the URL. I went into the admin part of URL and entered the details as sent to me by pipemedia: ns0.pipemedia.net - 217.31.128.9 ns1.pipemedia.net - 194.207.89.4 The URL stopped pointing to the temp hosting page a few days ago but now gives a "cannot find server" page. Can someone please tell me what I've done wrong or missed. Only thing I haven't touched is the admin section of pipemedia (hosting). They have a DNS section which allows me to add a record (A-record, C-Name or MX-something). When I select A-Record it asks for an IP address but I don't know what I need to put here. I also have these details from the hosting company: Mailhost: mailhost1.pipemedia.net I have *no* idea what to do with these I obviously want to be able to get emails sent to URL but don't know how. Many thanks in advance to anyone who reads this and/or answers - I'm sure you all have better things to do ![]() loch |

Add an 'A' record for "thesoulsavers.com" and "www.thesoulsavers.com". Use the same IP as you did to access the FTP server.

Thanks very much SilentRage.
The FTP details I was given was for webhost6.pipemedia.net - I pinged this and used the IP I got back. I will give it some time to update and report back. Thanks again for helping a novice. loch |
