VPN DNS 2k3
I have recently set up a 2003 server for a small domain. The Sever is set to handle DNS for the domain only. I have a Linksys BEFVP 41 router to connect to a managed domain. Static ip and so on. I use the router as the end point for VPN tunnels. I have the following problem. I need to map drive for a software using Names not IP addresses. On the local network this is no problem. But connecting throught the VPN tunnel I can't get the name to work, only by IP address. Is there any clue to where I should look to fix this? Thanks, Jeff

Are you using a fully qualified domain or a netbios name?

Acutally I solved the problem. I was using a VPN client but now since most clients are using XP Pro I switched to the Microsoft VPN and configured the TCPIP properties to use the DNS server on the remote network for the IP Address for the VPN connection. Thanks for your reply.
