There is no website configured at this address...

Good Morning... Sorry for taking up a new thread space... I have read and tried without success many of the solutions you and other kind readers have placed on this thread...

I guess mine is SOMEWHAT similar to many with a twist...

On my home computer (where I do my web design) I cannot connect to my web site... This occurs about 50% of the time... then for some reason - it will appear again - I can go for days without a problem and them - well you know - the day I have to go and do some major editing - it cannot connect...

I can go to every other page but my own... of course if I use an anonymous proxie server like::

    http://www.the-cloak.com/anonymous-surfing-home.html

I can view the page - my domain name host is with Yahoo and my web host company is here in Toronto, Canada...

My web host can see the page (with everyone else) at any time... "they" tell me it is a propogation issue with Yahoo - and that it will correct itself within a few hours - in that sense they are correct - the page will come up after a few hours - sometimes a day or two - but for some reason like I said before - it goes down again...

I am just thinking outloud here - should I perhaps change my start page to something other than www.yellowbellyfrog.com which is my website address...

They are half right. The problem is yahoo's fault, that's for sure. But this isn't likely to be a propagation issue that corrects itself over time. Here's your dns servers:

    dig +trace @a.root-servers.net www.yellowbellyfrog.com

Now this is what each server has to say.

    dig @ns11.webadminonline.com www.yellowbellyfrog.com
dig @ns12.webadminonline.com www.yellowbellyfrog.com (unable to resolve. see why)
    \__dig @67.19.149.188 www.yellowbellyfrog.com
    dig @yns1.yahoo.com www.yellowbellyfrog.com
    dig @yns2.yahoo.com www.yellowbellyfrog.com

Since the 2 groups of dns servers has a different idea as to what the IP address is, you will randomly resolve the domain to one or the other. If by the luck of the draw you get the wrong IP, you will experiece a downtime until the invalid data has expired from cache. It doesn't help that one of your webadminonline.com dns server domains doesn't resolve.

Send me a private message if you would like me to setup your DNS for you for a price of your choosing. This is the preferred method if your DNS needs to be fixed/setup fast and you don't have the time to bounce messages back and forth on a forum. Also, check out these links:

Getting rid of Second DNS Server

Should I get rid of that second DNS server? Delete it from my yahoo account and only leave the one there? The orginal info on addresses came from my host company...

Should I get rid of the yahoo server address yns1 and yns2 - the host company suggested this a while back but - I guess I am a bit leary when it comes to deleting things - especially when there is a huge message at the top of Yahoo's page - saying something like - "changing these settings can cause the sky to turn red and rain fire and ice"... (just kidding)

For the record, I have written (and copy pasted) your response to yahoo...

I dunno man. You can keep both sets of dns servers. Just contact the respective companies about their problems. webadminonline needs to add an 'A' record for ns2.webadminonline.com.

    for the record...

Thanks for your great help... all is well...

For the record, I copied your message to both the techs' at yahoo and my host company - something must have happened because neither company contacted me but, the site has been up since the email I sent them.

Not sure why they never said anything but, for whatever reason they fixed it I am sure based on what you told me.

Again, thanks for all your help.

Well yahoo is no longer a concern cause they're no longer a host for your domain. They've been removed at the company that registered your domain.

But webadminonline still has a screwy dns configuration. Neither ns11 nor ns12 resolve from the zone file. This will cause intermittant resolution problems for some people and not others. It is important that they fix this so that none of their clients on the ns11 and ns12 servers will experience problems.
