16 chars (with dots), ie 192.168.213.153, if you are using IPv4. Some people are implementing IPv6, try a Google search on it. But it's not fully developed and tested yet.

ummm...

An ip address is 64 bits long no matter which numbers make it up.
So they are all the same.
Unless you you some sort of compression.

What is the point of this questiion?

I wonder, is the new protocol ready in some places yet? toofan said it was being implemented but still experimental. I wonder when it's going to be ready...

With the advent of other internet-ready/able devices (see the usual one about your fridge ordering you milk when you get low), IPv4 is running out. there just ain't enough addresses to go round. Either way, it's probably going to be like Microsoft products - get it released asap, then find out it's buggy as hell...
