Hi friend,
I’m a newbie to website and DNS matters. I’ve just got a hosting package from a powerful web hosting company. I do online wholesaling and retailing. The hosting company has default DNS set for new customers. Maybe many other customers use their DNS, so their DNS may be always busy with responses. Because the hosting company owns a powerful data center connecting with redundant top backbones, and monitored by 24x7 Professional Support Staff, so I think their DNS is very reliable. To secure the Best Uptime for my site and to reduce possible nameserver’s downtime because of my server’ probable problems, I think to use this hosting company’s DNS as Primary Nameserver, and I use my domain name (also my hostname) to create Secondary Nameserver in my cPanel. Can I do like this? Are there some negatives?? What’s your idea? Any other ways or best ways to secure Uptime (Most Important) and speed, through setting Nameservers?? Any reply is very expected and highly appreciated!! David (edited) Last edited by devy : August 30th, 2003 at 03:06 PM. |

I did not like reading most of your post cause it sounded like a frickin commercial. It almost made me think that you were just making a fake question for the excuse of advertising that service.
almost So I'll answer your question: It is ok if you set the primary server to one company's DNS server and a secondary server to another company's DNS server (like your own) as long as both servers have the same information on them reguarding that domain. Doing this is also recommended for reliability.

Thank you SilentRage and ITmax very much.
I'm sorry for the original post containing some of a hosting company's features. I did not mean to advertise for that company. I'm not an employee of that company, just a new customer. I just wanted to make my post more clear. I'm a newbie. kindly forgive.) Still, I'm sincerely expecting your and other friends' good advice. Many thanks!
