whats up with my dns.. i'm so confused

i recently installed win 2k3 just so i could use the DNS server in it. i didn't quite realize how confusing DNS is :P

I set up the server created the primary zone and a few A records and i can't figure out how to get it all to work :P

my domain is vertigolabs.org
my computer's name is NS1

http://ns1.vertigolabs.org works but http://www.vertigolabs.org doesn't. heres my zone file info

Do you want that domain to only work on the network or also work from the internet?

i only want it for the internet, i'm set as the DMZ host on my linksys router so the other computers aren't gonna be an issue

i want to be able to run a few websites from my server ( apache 1.3x ) so i'll want to have a few domains, i already own vertigolabs.org and i'm about to move anouther over once i get it all figured out

Well this is why your domain doesn't work:

whois vertigolabs.org

Your domain is listed as INACTIVE. This MIGHT be due to the fact that you only have 1 name server. I suggest registering a second name server called ns2.vertigolabs.org with the same IP address. You may also contact your registrar about this issue.

hmm might the fact that my registrar locked domain transfer have a bit to do with it :P lol how ghetto of them

ignore that status. It is just a bit of added security to prevent people from stealing your domain.

well i got it unlocked, added the second name server and everthing is working fine thanks alot

now i need to figure out how to get my virtual hosts working on apache 1.3x :P
