What about it doesn't seem to be working? I get these replies:
http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dn...&lr=4&submit=DS http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dn...&lr=4&submit=DS Both return the same IP and the website works. [EDIT] I found a problem: http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dn...&lr=2&submit=DS Delete the 'NS' record for the ns1 domain on the lmao server. Then, put an 'A' record for that same domain on that same server. The other server appears to be correctly configured.

allright, I'll give ya some more details brought to ya by dns crawler. :-)
When querying your domain, resolvers may start here: http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dn...ss=IN&submit=DS Then they get a list of referal DNS servers. Click on a purple link to quickly take one. You'll get something like this: http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dn...ype=A&submit=DS It appears that GTLD knows your DNS servers. The 'lmao' server is listed first, and that is why my "Local Recursion" links which automated the "purple link clicking" used it. But now, with manual control, you can click on the purple link beside YOUR server. http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dn...ype=A&submit=DS And here we have it. It resolved the website to an IP. If you fixed the problem I showed you above then all the important things are done. Last edited by SilentRage : May 10th, 2004 at 09:48 AM. Reason: Updated URLs |

Ok, I'll keep it short. Your DNS on your computer is configured correctly. It works fine. It is being used. The DNS on your friends computer does not look like the picture you showed me. It should be fixed, but, it does not stop people from seeing your site.
So make the dns on your friends computer look like the dns on your computer and you're all set. cool? Oh, one other thing. Make the ns2 IP address you see in the data column your friends IP address. |

alright ill send him a copy of my dns file... and ill change ns2.iyaracing.com to point to his IP. one more question, not that i dont believe you about mine being used, but how did you come to that conclusion?
i ask because i just created a host record, for testing, and i am not able to ping it. i created abc.iyaracing.com pointing to my IP address but it does not come back with a response. :-( |

alright, i believe i found the problem as to why lmao.abecx.net is showing up first. i made the changes about 44 hours ago on my registrar and they tell me they have not propagated yet. everything should be up around 2AM this morning. so ill just sit around and wait.
however, my questions still stands, how do i check to make sure MY dns is the one doing the resolving? |

here: prove all you want that your dns works:
http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dn...e=ANY&submit=DS type in any domain you are hosting into the NAME textbox and it will ask your server directly whatsup. The way I could tell your server is in use is explained in a previous post which you said was over your head. To try to make it so that yours is used MORE than your friends is by modifying the registration of your domain. This is the way you currently have it: lmao.abecx.net (66.100.167.173) ns1.iyaracing.com (24.167.84.56) Change to: ns1.iyaracing.com (24.167.84.56) ns2.iyaracing.com (66.100.167.173) Last edited by SilentRage : May 10th, 2004 at 09:49 AM. |
