    Another domain question

I forgot to pose one question in my last message, so here goes...

I am setting up a server to have web serving functionality using w2k server. I have a couple of domains registered to use for the URLs.

I know how to setup a basic domain on a machine, but I am not very familiar with sub domains. Will I need to do anything special to get my w2k machine to recognize www.mydomain.com?

I can easily get my machine to recognize mydomain.com, but I'm not sure how to setup the server for the www.mydomain.com.

Are www URLs true sub domains, or are they handled differently than say, machine1.mydomain.com?

Thanks in advance for any help.

These are DNS questions, not IIS questions so you've been moved

They are the handled the same way. You still need an A record.
If your domain is for local access only you may then use 192.168.0.1 and so on. If it's for public and you only have one static IP you have to add an A record and point each of domain/subdomain to your static IP, then you can use vhost in Apache.
