    Question for freebsd...

    Hi,

Quick question here for freebsd from a FreeBSD and UNIX newbie if I may...

The thread below from hooj on "How to set this up? CORRECTLY" sounds like it touches on what someone needs to know to set up a company's public internet presence. I would like to learn what's needed so I can do just that in a completely adequate and secure manner.

What do you think is the best way for someone to go about learning all this stuff if they don't have a networking -- just a programming -- background? What are good sources. Heck, what are all the subjects one needs to know?

    Thank you for sharing,

    Louis

P.S. link to thread = How should I set this up? CORRECTLY!

    1) Trust no one but yourself by not using your ISP nameservers as your /etc/resolv.conf
    2) Don't run BIND, run djbdns

As far as the best way, start by copying someone's zone records and make necessary changes. You need not to purchase any books, they are useless.
