    Name server question

Hello. We often have clients that come to us for web hosting, but we want to leave their email as is and I have a solution and was just wondering if this is viable.

Can we leave the name servers as is, but remove all "A" records and set up CNAMES for the www. and non-www domain pointing to other domains hosted on our server.

    Is this setup OK?

Generally you want to use as little of CNAME records as you can. CNAMES are useful pretty much only in situations like this, where you're trying to find work arounds or rig up something. Having a bunch of CNAMES can start to get confusing make the domains more prone to configuration errors(more complex something is, the more likely you will have a problem). It also requires another DNS lookup to resolve the CNAME record. But yes, what you want to do should work.
