DC in with a rechargeable battery for backup

    Hi,

I'm doing this project on a digital safe, and I want it to have a DC in through an adapter and in the meantime, have a battery that will work as a back up when the DC power has been plugged out.

Any ideas on how this can be achieved?

Or is there an easier alternative that hasnt crossed my mind?

You could use a few diodes, something like this:
