I used to be intensely interested in coding in my younger days. I got pretty
proficient in BASIC on the C64 and early DOS PCs, dabbled in PASCAL and learned a fair amount
of C (which I have nearly forgotten completely.) Later on my interests changed and I stopped.
Everything I ever wrote on a PC was for DOS, so I have zero experience when it comes to
Windows or any other window manager.

I am looking to get back into it, and I am hoping some of the experienced hands around here
can point me in the right direction. There is a command line utility I use at work and I am
looking to write a really basic Windows GUI so my less technically inclined coworkers can use it too.
It would need to do the following:

1. Bring up a file browser box so you can pick a file.
2. Accept a text input in another box.
3. Execute the command line program with the file path and text input.

And that's it. I've been out of it so long that I don't know which language to start with. Any
guidance for someone with totally outdated minimal coding skills would be greatly appreciated! ]]>

Programming for Non-Programmers or Novice Programmers! http://forums.devshed.com/beginner-programming/978969-programming-programmers-novice-programmers-new-post.html Sat, 09 Sep 2017 12:56:03 GMT Hey guys! We are currently researching on programming languages for non-programmers or novice programmers at our university.
Introducing computer programming to someone who has none or very little knowledge about computers or programming can be exceptionally challenging.
In an attempt to overcome these challenges, we have developed two visual programming environments - Flow-based and Block-based, which will help one to code in a very simple manner, by using different types of diagrammatic representations like blocks, shapes or tables.
One can consider this environment very similar to solving a puzzle by attaching the different pieces together to get a final result.
We want to determine which out of those two paradigms is more easy for users!

Please help me evaluate these Programming Environments by clicking on the link and solving a simple problem question!

The KD Experiment

Two environments will be given to you one after the other (could be Same or Different) and a feedback form at the end of each of the environments.

Thanks in advance and Happy Coding! :) ]]>

Programming a tool to download TV Shows http://forums.devshed.com/beginner-programming/978883-programming-tool-download-tv-new-post.html Thu, 31 Aug 2017 17:10:34 GMT Hello,

I'm very new to programming.
I want to make a tool to download TV Shows from vtm.be and vier.be.

There is a project on Github https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/issues/9974

So it seems very difficult to make a good tool for it.

Can anyone help me to handle this? ]]>
