Database size increases after performing Selects

Hi,

I have a problem with a Firebird Database. I have a created a new database and inserted some data, size is now about 7 MB.

Now our application performs only Selects on the database, no Inserts or Updates are executed. After about performing 5000 Select-Statement, the database size increases about 1-2KB. Since the applications query the database quite often, the filesize increases about 40-50 MB per month.

This problem occurs with Interbase 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, Firebird 1.0.3 - 2.1.0 RC2.

I have no idea what to do, can anyone help me please?
