DAY, MONTH AND YEAR FUNCTION exists?

Hi again,

I wonder if I can use something like this:

SELECT ____________
FROM __________
WHERE MONTH(DateField) = 1 /* January */

Could you point me to some link where I can learn how to deal with Firebird's stored procedures, functions, etc.?
I want to swith to Firebird, but it's getting harder than I thought.

Thanks in advance.

A quick search using google reveals the following:
Code:
SELECT .....
FROM ....
WHERE EXTRACT(MONTH FROM dateField) = 1
