Embedded Firebird..
Hi,
we r developing an application in .net,and backend will be firebird 1.5..the app will be windows based..i was wondering if this app can have an embedded firebird with tables required at client end..and update the main database server,at the end of the day..that is export data from embedded database to main database..because i feel it might be faster..or should clients talk directly to database server thks |

More clearance needed
Hi SilverDB,
my situation is this I am working on a project.and we r in the requirements stage..I need some guidance on architecture.. the technology has already been decided..dotnet and Firebird.. Our setup is like this..we have a central office, regional offices which have sales offices.. At present database server is at each regional office..sales office register sales through a windows application..all transactions are registered directly to regional office server..then all regional offices update the central server..Now,I was thinking to have smart clients at sales office with embedded Firebird--reasoning being..processing will get faster.. then at the end of day..update the regional server where Firebird server 1.5 will be installed..Is this a right way to go about? What should influence my decision? Can an embeddedfirebird communicate with Server version..ie can I send data to and fro..?? |
